Fr Joshua Gopini msc

It is just over twelve months since I arrived at OLSH. When I left B’lore, I was obviously very apprehensive about my new assignment in a strange land, among unknown people. But once I landed here I discovered that my fears were unfounded because  Frs. Peter, Tony Bolt and Tony O’Brien  made me so welcome and made quite sure that I didn't miss my country and my loved ones too much and more importantly the delicious delicacies prepared by my mother. They are also extremely helpful in guiding me in my new ministry. I would have been at a loss without them .I am very grateful to them for all the help they rendered me. The parishioners too have been warm and cordial in welcoming me. It has helped me greatly to adjust and acclimatize in my new home away from home pretty quickly.

The major activities I am involved are the following; we have started Young Adult group. As Fr.Peter had noted in one of the earlier bulletins that they are growing from strength to strength, from party to party. Their visits to the elderly on Saturdays have been very well received and appreciated by the parishioners. They are a delightful enthusiastic bunch of young men and women; I always look forward to the young adults’ prayer group meetings. Each week the numbers are increasing in leaps and bounds which is a positive sign that the youth are appreciative of their faith and it is a pleasure to be in their midst which uplifts my spirit as well.

Beside the young adult group Fr.Peter was keen to start once again the Antioch group in our parish after a gap of ten years. Finally we were successful in reintroducing it. Their Impact on Good Friday Service was overwhelming. They have a whale of a time on every Sunday at 7 pm with quick pizza and rock it out till 9pm with wonderful music, lots of fun and frolic accompanied by life changing talks.

Alongside of parish ministry, Peter and self are also in charge of the hospital ministry which I really enjoy doing it and which gives new meaning to my life. Right now I am doing CPEU course which will better equip me for the hospital ministry. I am enjoying it very much.

Community and the staff at the presbytery are outstanding in their practice of virtues of service, generosity and absolute dedication and commitment. I am grateful to all who have contributed in small or big way to my growth and happiness in this wonderful place. I haven't seen much of this country. If God willing may be SOMEDAY… SOMETIME... SOMEWHERE!
